Over the last month we have been working hard to support our local NHS trust, by ensuring their waste collection requirements are met, during a time of turbulence and change.
We have created a dedicated waste collection round to ensure that even with staff shortages, we are still able to meet the NHS’s demands and support them through this difficult time.
Paolo and Christian are part of the crew on this specialist team and are very proud to be supporting the NHS in this way. Both have worked hard to meet the rising demand whilst being flexible with changes in their working practices. Paolo has been collecting the NHS waste since the contract began in 2015 and is always happy to go the extra mile for his customers. Chris is a valued and reliable member of the Commercial Waste Team, and his dedication to our customers is much appreciated.
In addition, our Commercial Waste Teams are:
- Assisting non-clinical waste collections from the Dragon’s Heart Hospital in the Principality Stadium, working with our contacts at the stadium and with other NHS contractors and stakeholders to support this new temporary facility, which is providing over 2000 additional beds.
- Supporting the drive through test facility at Cardiff Blues, and a temporary morgue elsewhere in the city.
- Increasing skip movements from NHS hospitals. These are serviced by our hard-working drivers, Mark and James. Both have recently stepped-up to help us provide this service, and have worked well to ensure we provide a high quality service.
Violet Lee, Commercial Contract Manager, says: “Our teams are working hard to continue to keep services running across the city. We ensure that all operational staff are protected whilst in the vehicle and at customer locations with Health and Safety approved PPE and other social distancing measures.
“Our office staff are all continuing to work from home to support the delivery of these waste collection services. In addition to supporting the NHS we are also working hard to support the other businesses in Cardiff and other Council buildings, who still require waste collections.”
“All members of the team are playing key roles to ensure our service meets our customer’s expectations during the lockdown, whilst meeting increasing demands from the NHS. We are thankful to all members of the team.”
We would like to thank all our customers at this difficult time, and if we can offer any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
