Incorrect items (contamination)

If you put incorrect items in your recycling or food waste bins, we will not collect. You will need to remove the incorrect items, and present on your next scheduled collection. Or, remove the incorrect items and request a chargeable recollection on our next available date.

If you are unable to remove the incorrect items, you can request a chargeable recollection as general waste. We will provide you with this to enable a fresh start, but you must then follow the education advice provided.

Find out the correct items to put into your containers here.

Food waste or recycling in your general waste bin

You have a duty of care to ensure that no food waste (over 5KG), or recycling is placed within your general (non recyclable) waste container. We have a duty of care to not collect general waste containers where we suspect there are recyclables or food within it.

We will provide you with education and support to divert these materials to the correct containers. However, where no improvement is made, we may refuse to collect your container.

Container too heavy/overfilled

We may be unable to safely collect your container if it is too heavy. There are maximum weight limits on our vehicle lifting equipment. Our team are instructed to lift within their capability to ensure their safety. If your container is too heavy, you will need to remove some waste and place it out for your next scheduled collection. Or, remove some waste and request a chargeable recollection on our next available date.

No access

If there is no access to safely collect your container, we will unfortunately be unable to return to collect. Your container will be collected on your next scheduled collection. Or, you can request a chargeable recollection on our next available date

Container damaged

We may be unable to safely collect your container if it is damaged. Our team will report it for you, and a new one will be issued.

If you are using bins or sacks for your recycling, the items must be placed in loose- no single use plastic bags.
