Your contract

As part of your collection service, you have to sign:

This forms your contract and contains all the information you need, such as:

  • your collection day,
  • types of waste we will collect,
  • how often we will collect, and
  • where your waste goes once collected.

If we cannot collect your waste due to customer fault, you will still be charged. For example, if your bin has incorrect items in it or the bins are not out for collection.

It is a rolling annual contract. You must give us 90 days’ notice if you want to end it.

If you would like to make changes to your contract, please contact us to discuss these. You may have to pay an admin fee.

Once your contract has been updated, a new Waste Transfer Note will be generated. There is no charge for a new note, but you will have to log in to the portal to sign it.

If you need to temporarily suspend your contract, please contact us. You will need to give us at least 14 days’ notice.

Whilst your contract is suspended, you will not get or pay for collections. If you have a bin collection, you will still pay for bin hire during this time.

If your annual Duty of Care charge is due, this charge will still apply.

If your business is moving, we can end your contract at your previous address and restart it at your new address. Please contact us to arrange this.

If you are thinking of leaving Trade Waste, please let us know why. We will respond to all feedback and are confident we can resolve any issues you may be facing.

If you choose to leave, we will be sad to see you go but can help you end the contract. You will need to give us 90 days’ notice in writing to TradeWaste@cardiff.gov.uk.

Your charges will still apply during the notice period, even if you leave your business and do not have any collections.

If your annual Duty of Care charge is generated during the notice period, this will still apply.

If you do not tell us you are leaving, the charges will still apply even if your business was not active during that time.

You can update your contact details in the portal. Log in to the portal.

If a new person needs to become the contact on your account, they will need to register on the portal.
